Writing Assessment Plans

Chemistry

  • The chemistry program’s writing assessment is completed in CHEM 322 Lab

Computer Science

  • 91猫先生 must attain a grade of C or higher in ENG 101 and 102 prior to their junior year or they will be required to successfully complete ENG 290 – Advanced Writing Lab.
  • 91猫先生 write software requirement specifications and user manuals in a number of computer science courses. They also must complete MATH 322, a course requiring a term paper. These products are graded for both content and writing skills. 91猫先生 who lack prerequisite skills are identified and advised into one or more additional writing courses.
  • All students complete a senior project that leads to a graded paper and an oral presentation of the project. This capstone experience provides faculty with a means of assessing the writing skills of our graduates.
  • All students are required to follow the guidelines described in the Adams State MATH/CSCI Writing Standards.

Mathematics

  • 91猫先生 must attain a grade of C or higher in ENG 101 and 102 prior to their junior year or they will be required to successfully complete ENG 290 – Advanced Writing Lab .
  • Each student writes a research paper on a topic relevant to the level and content of the course in MATH 322 – Algebraic Structures, MATH 335 – History of Mathematics, and MATH – 420 Advanced Analysis. 91猫先生 who lack prerequisite skills are identified and advised into one or more additional writing courses.
  • All students complete a senior project that leads to a graded paper and an oral presentation of the project. This capstone experience provides faculty with a means of assessing the writing skills of our graduates.
  • 91猫先生 completing the secondary licensure plan must complete MATH 403 – Senior Assessment. This course includes a requirement that students read journals and abstract papers. In this course, they practice and are graded on oral presentations. The course culminates in the written and oral presentation of their senior project.
  • All students are required to follow the guidelines described in the Adams State MATH/CSCI Writing Standards.
