The university reminds students of counseling services

The 91猫先生 campus community mourns the loss of graduate student Kayla Harris. 鈥淚 am personally devasted to learn of Kayla鈥檚 tragic death,鈥 said President David Tandberg, Ph.D. 鈥淥n behalf of the entire Adams State community, I express my heartfelt condolences to her family and friends and the entire Grizzly community during this extremely difficult time. We are truly overcome with the grief.鈥

Adams State students, faculty, staff and coaches are encouraged to contact the Counseling Center, located on the third floor of Richardson Hall, for assistance during this difficult time. Kayla HarrisHarris completed her bachelor鈥檚 degree in the fall of 2023 and was working on her Master in Business Administration. The campus community rallied around Kayla Harris and the entire women鈥檚 basketball team this spring as they made their way to the DII National Championship Tournament. 鈥淒arin and I are so proud of all she accomplished at Adams State,鈥 President Tandberg added. 鈥淲e were privileged to watch Kayla excel on and off the court. It feels nearly impossible to understand and cope with losing a young woman so early in her promising life.鈥

As confirmed by her family, Harris was the victim of a shooting in her hometown of Las Vegas, Nev., on Monday, June 24, that left her and four others dead and another seriously injured.
