Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology Mai Award, Ph.D., delivered a presentation on the synergistic聽impacts of pesticides and heavy metals on honey bees and human health at SETAC聽North America 45th annual meeting, October 20-24 at the Fort Worth, Texas, Convention聽Center.
Director聽of the School of Education Curtis Garcia,聽Ph.D., and Associate Professor of Education Michele Mann, Ph.D., co-presented聽a paper at the 17th Annual Mentoring Institution Conference in聽Albuquerque, New聽Mexico during the week of October 21st. The paper,聽Implementing a Rural School-Based Mentor-Coach Program: A Promising Practice Case Study, focuses on the work the two professors聽have done through the mentor teacher endorsement program and building a cadre of trained teacher聽mentors in a local school聽district. Drs. Garcia and Mann have secured聽nearly $300,000 in state grants to sustain the program and provide scholarships and stipends to participating teachers. The paper will also be published in the Institute’s journal later this year.
Assistant Professor of Psychology Chris Kam, Ph.D., co-authored the article,聽“,”聽in the journal聽“Basic and Applied Social Psychology.”
Assistant Professor of Sociology Nicholas Van De Voorde, Ph.D., will present his original research 鈥High Crime in the Mile High City? Exploring the Association Between Marijuana Gentrification and Crime in Denver, Colorado,鈥 at the American Society of Criminology Annual Conference in San Francisco in November.
