Colorado Governor Jared Polis appointed Anne Trujillo, Littleton, Colo., to the 91猫先生 Board of Trustees. Trujillo鈥檚 term began January 1, 2024, and will end December 31, 2027. The position was vacated when Michele Lueck鈥檚 term ended in 2023.
An alumna of the University of Colorado, Boulder, Trujillo sees Adams State as a perfect place for providing opportunities, which compliments her belief in opening doors for all Coloradans, especially those for whom higher聽education has not been a consideration or an option. 鈥淭his is personal to me;聽I am a first-generation college student and remember聽well what it was like to navigate the higher ed system on my own.鈥
As the newest BOT member, Trujillo will rely on her experience as a journalist to observe and listen at the beginning of her term. 鈥淚’m excited to work with President Tandberg and the rest of the team who are deeply committed to helping students succeed.聽I look forward to meeting faculty, staff and students, and getting to know the campus and those who make it such an inviting place.鈥
As a Latina and longtime Coloradan, Trujillo appreciates Adams State鈥檚 distinction as a Hispanic Serving Institution. 鈥淚 don’t think enough people know how meaningful that designation is to families who are looking for a welcoming environment and a place to kickstart a new phase in life, for themselves and their families.鈥
Trujillo has experience working with urban and rural students through her volunteer work with the Denver Scholarship Foundation, providing scholarships聽to first generation families; and the Nathan Yip Foundation, focused on providing assistance to teachers in rural districts. 鈥淚 have learned the importance of making personal connections to help people chart their course in life.聽That’s where I see my goals aligning with those of 91猫先生 and I am honored to be a part of the Board of Trustees.鈥
Trujillo鈥檚 career as a news anchor with KMGH Denver 7 spans over 39 years. She is a Latino Leadership Institute Legacy Award Recipient; and a 12-time National Association of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Emmy winner for excellence in reporting, anchoring and breaking news coverage. She was inducted into the NATAS Silver Circle for service to journalism; and was named to the 2019 Denver Press Club Hall of Fame. Trujillo currently serves on multiple community boards; and served as co-chair of the E.W. Scripps Latino/Hispanic Employee Resource Group, and as a member of the Denver7 Diversity Committee. She is co-founder of the Colorado Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists
